The NSC is an initiative by Luiz Carlos Jackson, Fernando Pinheiro, Sergio Miceli, and Maria Arminda do Nascimento Arruda and their respective students to create a discussion forum at USP on the Sociology of Culture. The meetings, which have occurred fortnightly since the end of 2015, collectively discuss ongoing researches and academic productions. By gathering researchers from different areas within the field of cultural studies (Fine Arts, Film, Music, Literature, Theater and Journalism, among others), the NSC functions as a dynamic space for converging diverse interests, an expression of the thematic plurality typical to the Sociology of Culture.
